However, this doesn’t stop a strong bounce-back as during my first visit in September last year after the renovation the place looks barely smoked. (My first visit can be seen here). I’ve already eaten the huge Dalston Yard site but yet to check out the Model Market and Hawker House venues. (TBC), as a comparative though I do like the intimacy of the Dinerama set-up. Here was my point to point evening during a Thursday evening in early May. Cheeky Italian’s Beef Poutin on sweet potato fries, gravy and cheese sauce (£7.50). A delectable little mash-up of Canadian with an elusive Italian touch? Very delicious and comforting. I would recommend this. Grubstance rating: 4/5 Is he the Cheeky Italian? BBQ Lab – All wings were different from my previous visit in September 2015 aside from the Chipuffalo’s, but no less delicious. My favourite of course is the Chipuffalo minus the blue cheese! Grubstance rating 3.5/5. Habanero: Habanero, Roasted Peppers, Cream, Tamarind, Chilli, Sprinkles £5 Mojo: Mango, Siracha, Fish Sauce, Sesame, Spring Onion £5. Chipuffalo: Buffalo, Chipotle, Truffled blue cheese dip, Pickled Celery, Herbs. £5. BBQ: Sweet & Sticky, Dill Pickles, Spring Onion. £5. Duck’N Roll – crispy duck bites £8. Confit pulled duck (I think). Meaty and flavourful but not as compelling as the other bites we had. Grubstance rating 2.5/5. Fundi Pizza – Affumicata – smoked mozzarella + panchetta. The sauce came with the right amount of deep intensity, the mozzarella wonderfully smokey, the panchetta adding the salty dimension all on that stellar crust. I kid you not this pizza was an orchestra of flavour in my mouth. Grubstance rating 4/5. Smoke Stak – Grubstance rating 4/5 Thick cut pork rib £8. Smoked till fall off the bone tender, a lovely inter-play of fat, smoked meat and sauce. They were really sticky and undeniable good. USDA Beef – can you see the kissed pink smoke layer? It’s BBQ personification. Yum Bun Chicken – Japanese fried chicken, mayo, lettuce, chilli pickles (£4 each). These were a sad state of affairs unfortunately. The overloading of mayo and damp lettuce absorbed straight into the thin bao which disintegrated when handled. The chicken lacked the crispness and were just a mere rumour in everything else. A far cry to the wonderful bao I had here last year. Grubstance rating 1.5/5. You Doughnut is the only choice for desert here, this is their salted caramel with cinnamon sugar, warm salted caramel sauce & pecans in a large £5. I was too full to try it but it will be done during my next visit! Somehow this happened in Dicks Magic T-Bar upstairs. Caramel infused vodka. The night spiralled out of control from here on in! http://streetfeast.com/where/dinerama Every Thursday to Sunday Noon to Late 19 Great Eastern Street London EC2A 3EJ Free before 7pm, £3 after Closest Tube – Old St/Shoreditch High St. 00
